General Valuer, Auctioneer & Business Development – South West Region 

Location: The Devon Saleroom (Hele)

We are seeking an experienced General Valuer to join our dynamic team in the South West region.

This is a fantastic opportunity for a knowledgeable professional with a passion for Antiques, History, Auctions, and Professional Services to join our wider national team. You will play a lead role in supporting our Devon Saleroom in Hele and covering the South West area.

Key Responsibilities:

  • Conduct thorough valuations for Auction, Insurance and Probate of Antiques, Jewellery, Silver, Fine Art, Furniture and Collectibles, and other items, ensuring accuracy and compliance with industry standards.
  • Business development is a key aspect of the role and the successful candidate will be confident in nurturing new clients, maintaining existing relationships and developing a calendar of valuation days.
  • Collaborate with the wider national team to support a range of specialist auctions, including but not limited to Northern & Contemporary Art, Decorative Arts, Studio Pottery Fine Art and Asian Art. 
  • Maintain a deep understanding of market trends and competitive landscapes to ensure our clients receive the best possible service.

Requirements:

  • Proven experience as a General Valuer, preferably with a focus on Antiques, Fine Art, Jewellery, Silver, Paintings and Works of Art. 
  • In-depth knowledge of auction procedures and business development.
  • Strong communication and interpersonal skills, with the ability to build rapport with clients and colleagues alike.
  • A passion for Antiques, History, and Auctions, coupled with a professional approach to your work.
  • Excellent organisational skills and attention to detail.
  • Ability to work independently and as part of a team, with a strong sense of initiative and problem-solving.
