A Magnificent collection of Snuff Boxes
As we prepare for the annual pre-Christmas auction of Jewellery, Silver, Watches and Boutique items at Adam Partridge Auctioneers in Cheshire, we will see more than 2200 lots be sold over two days and this sale is as good as the Cheshire saleroom has ever put on for these disciplines.
Day two starts with a magnificent, private collection of nearly 50 gold and silver snuff boxes, with quality and rarity being the focus of the group.
A stand out is Lot 2034 and is an 18th century French example in high carat gold with a guide of £3,300 - £4,000.
Other fine examples see a Jacobite related box, Lot 2041, A suberb Jacobite snuff box with blue agate base and cover set in an engine turned gilt metal frame, the underside of the cover inscribed with the Jacobite slogan 'Awa Whigs Awa' and other gold snuffs and several immaculate silver pieces.
